by the Orpheus Trio
On Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 8 pmThe program
In 1874, Édouard André built the first organ by the famous builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll in his hotel on Boulevard Haussmann. The owners hosted some of the most important organists of their time, including Louis Vierne and Marcel Dupré. At the end of the 19th century, the organ was the must-have instrument of the salons, as witnessed by the numerous musical encounters at the homes of Pauline Viardot and Princess de Polignac, which Marcel Proust wrote about in 1903: “hours of supreme elegance”.
Gabriel Bestion de Camboulas at the organ, accompanied by Benjamin Ortiz on violin and Stéphan Soeder on cello, plunge into this effervescent and passionate musical universe at the Musée Jacquemart-André. The organ in chamber music formation allows us to explore a palette of musical colors and feelings revealed by the alchemy of the three instruments.
The varied program features works by J.S. Bach, J. Rheinberger, L. Beethoven, C. Saint-Saëns, C. Franck, A. Piazzola and E. Villa-Lobos.
